Obituary

James Joseph LeVangie, Jr., 79, was called home to God, surrounded by his family, in Manchester, NH on April 20, 2020 after a long illness. He was born at Carney Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Jim was a 20-year career military policeman and a Vietnam Veteran, serving in both the Air Force and Army. He especially enjoyed his assignments as an accident investigator, "Mr. Safety", and as the Military Police Liaison to the local police on Okinawa. Music of every genre was his passion. While stationed in Okinawa, he was briefly assigned to his secondary MOS as a radio disc jockey with the "The East of Midnight Show" and in television production on Armed Forces Radio and Television Service - Far East Network. After retiring as a Military Police Instructor, Jim worked for 27 years in the U.S. Postal Service. Jim had a creative and inquisitive mind, actively learning about his varied interests. He was a member of the Nutfield Valley Model Railroad Club of Derry, N.H., and often used his photography skills on railroads all over New England. Jim was active in both his children's Scout troops, participating in many camping trips and hikes. He was a proud member of the American Legion - Officer Jeremy Charon Law Enforcement Post 122, Concord, N.H. Jim will be missed for his beautiful, spontaneous grin and great sense of humor. He was easy-going and friendly and would love to chat with anyone.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Margaret C. (Goode) Catania and Charles M. Catania of Chicopee, Massachusetts and James J. LeVangie, Sr.; He is survived by his best friend and wife of almost 55 years, Rosemary (Murphy) LeVangie; his daughter Kathleen ML Volpone and her husband Michael Volpone of Newbury, MA and son Sean C.
