"I spent a lot of time doing different activities with Hazel and getting to know and respect her. I value those days in the BMH coffee shop with her and doing Bratt Historical Society projects with her. I was fortunate to have those opportunities to witness how much a person can really be involved with others in places and efforts that matter to them. She made a lot of events happen that most of us didn't realize she did, all in between her walks. Imagine all the planning that was going on in her mind during those walks. May we all participate in life in the manner Hazel did, showing up. I'll never forget when she and I had the BHS rotation of staffing the Jeremiah Beale House on weekends during the summer and fall months several years back. Just to sit and listen and learn from Hazel out there on Western Ave waiting for visitors was enough but then when someone did come in it was time for action. It was all I could do to keep up with Hazel and my pleasure to try. To share info with others who are curious in the way Hazel did is classic passion for the past and love of community. Sending warm regards to the Andersons and Robertsons and her dear friends at BHS. Glad I was one of them . - Chip Cummings from Burlington, VT."
