Condolence & Memory Journal

Dear Winona, Marge, Dennis and family,

We're so sorry to see Howard pass. I can't express how deeply we will miss him. His laughter, sly grin and his warmth enriched us all. I still remember the young guy I met 30+ years ago, who was excited about sailing, work and most of all his family. Howard wasn't much for long drawn out sentences, but said what was on his mind and always on point. However, in all those years he never said a negative thing and always made sure he made someones day bright. Pretty tough knowing the position he was in and the stress we induce in folks. He will be missed, but we are blessed with knowing him and being loved by him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all and may his love help you through these painful times.

My friend, my husband, my lifelong companion, who has been living with the prime of life neurodegenerative diseases of FTD, PPA, with parkinsonism, and PSP, died from a fall Wednesday August 5, 2015. His neurologist stated that this was a merciful death compared to the long decline ahead going into the last stage of these disease attacking the brain- and I agree.
I know that Howard is at peace and whole again. I am saddened. I am at peace.
Howard has been actively participating in a research program at Massachusetts General Hospital for the past 4 years in the hope of helping to find answers for these neurodegenerative diseases, which at this time have no known cause, treatment, or cure.
Howard's brain, donated to science, is his legacy to make a difference in the lives of those who are now and in the future, living with these diseases that strike so cruelly at the prime of life.

Marge -- I'm so sorry for your loss. It seems that you and your dad had a true friendship, in addition to a strong father/daughter bond. That's such a sweet gift, and leaves such a hole behind I know. Love you lots!
