Tribute & Message From The Family

Darlene "Doll" Marie Vaughn, 53, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH. Darlene suffered a great deal as she battled breast cancer over the past 7 years, however, she did so with an enormous amount grace and a hope for a life full of joy, and an unconditional love for all people. Doll was a friend to everyone. Born on July 19, 1963, in Manchester, NH, she was the devoted daughter of the late Otis Vaughn and the late Rubye Jean (Harris) Vaughn.

Raised in Manchester, NH, by her maternal grandmother Sadie Mae (Harris) Williams, Darlene was a cheerful young girl and was popular in the community and at school. She grew up with four brothers and one sister. As a young child she attended Central High School in Manchester, N.H. until-1981, and then went off to begin a family of her own.

Doll was a lover of music, dancing and laughter. She could often be found singing out tunes and teaching the latest dance moves to those around her. Having a distinctive sense of humor, Doll was the stand-up comedian in the family and often indulged others in laughter. Doll was extraordinarily passionate about family; it was the top priority in her life. Over the past 20 years, she rarely missed a family reunion. Regardless of where she had to travel from, she didn't let anything come between her the time she spent with her family. She was a light for all of us, and she would let it shine, even if it was the last thing she did.

She was a proud mother and grandmother of a daughter, Patrice Charmaine Richardson, and a son, Marcus Keith Vaughn and his four beautiful children, who were the light of her life; Amaya, Kylie, Marcus Jr., and Maleeya. Patrice and Marcus meant the world to Darlene, and she was often heard saying that they were the reason she breathed. Her children were her motivation as they overcame many obstacles throughout their lives together. She instilled in them that there was nothing they could not accomplish if they set their mind to it and simply believed.

Darlene is survived by a loving wife, Stephanie Maben. They frequently traveled together, enjoying family trips and activities, had a welcoming home and enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. Darlene was happy that she met the person that she knew she was going to spend the rest of her life with. Their love was unique and very special. Darlene was Stephanie's hero, whom she will forever miss.

Darlene also leaves behind a sister Varneta Sara Vaughns, a brother, James A. Vaughn, Sr., aunt Ina Vaughn, an Aunt Gloria J. Moore-Vaughn, an Uncle Eugene Seals, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, whom she grew up with and favored as siblings. Doll enjoyed special relationships with her cousins, Sandra (Seals) Clark, Pamela (Seals) Filley, Audrey (Seals) Irish, Michele Cubelli Harris and Marc Todd Harris.

She is predeceased by her brothers Oliver Lee Vaughn and Michael Owen Vaughns, Uncle Matthew Spencer Harris, Jr. and Aunt Mildred (Harris) Seals.

Doll will be remembered for her great sense of humor, and her strong will and determination.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22nd from 2pm – 6pm at Phaneuf Funeral Home at 250 Coolidge Ave, in Manchester, NH.

In closing Doll would always say "failure is not an option!".
