Leslie S.F. Brown, 96, of Derry, NH, passed away January 2, 2016 at Hanover Hill Health Care Center in Manchester, NH.

Les was born in Manchester, NH, a son of James & Euphemia Brown and had resided in Derry, NH since 1954.

He was a graduate of Manchester West High School – Class of 1937-B.

Prior to retirement, Les was employed at the Veteran Administration Medical Center in Manchester and was also co-owner with his wife Lucy of the Les Brown Insurance Agency in Derry for 21 years.

Les was a radio operator within the Transportation Corps of the U.S. Army during World War II, having served in the European Theatre where he was awarded three battle stars. He was an amateur radio operator with the call sign of WB1FET.

Les was a Past Chief of Clan McKenzie #27 – Order of Scottish Clans, and a communicant of The Church of The Transfiguration (Episcopal) having served as Vestryman.

Family includes his wife of 61 years, Lucy (Bailey) Brown; one son, Bruce B. Brown of Derry; two sisters, Janet B. Noury of Manchester and the late Euphemia F. Brown of Manchester; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of The Transfiguration in Derry, NH. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in East Derry.

Memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of one’s choice.

We were so sorry to read of Les' passing in the paper. Such a nice man. Always ready with that contagious smile. He will be missed but he leaves us with many fond memories. Our sympathies to Lucy and Bruce.
