Condolence & Memory Journal

Dear Kathy:

How often over the years have I thought about "C.R." and you and your lovely home, and the invites we had to go sledding up there and how kind you both were to us high school students.   So sorry for loss.

My sincerest condolences to Aunt Kathy, Uncle Bruce, Katie, Greg, and all the rest of the family.  I didn't get to see Uncle Dick very often but he was a very nice man and my mother was very fond of him.  I also enjoyed all the facebook posts he would make.  Very sorry for your loss.

It was a joy to know Dick and banter back-and- forth with him.  I tried to match wit with him, but generally finished in second place.  Unlike today, when we disagreed we kept our respect and friendship.  It was an honor knowing him and working with him.

I had the honor of working with Dick for nearly 30 years. He was the most kind, thoughtful, caring person I have ever known.  A true and trusted friend.

My sincere sympathy to you Kathy and to your family during this difficult time.

Dear Erskine Family,

We were saddened to read of Dick's passing in the Union Leader today. I, Kathie-Ann, worked at what was then New Hampshire College (SNHU) and knew Dick as a wonderful man, educator, and Dean. Everyone liked him and recognized him as a fine gentleman.

Please accept our most sincere condolences. May time help to ease your pain and happy memories bring you peace.

Sincerely,

Catherine-Ann and John P. Day

My deepest sympathies go out to Kathy and their family.  I was very honored to work with Dick at SNHU.  He was one of the most amazing individuals, so kind and always ready with a story or a joke or providing goodies from his garden!  My favorite memory of Dick was of him joining me onstage with his guitar for my fiddle presentation in Walker Auditorium.  He didn't want me to be on stage alone, so he made sure he was there to support me!  He was definitely one of good ones!

My sympathy and understanding are with Dick's family at this time.  I enjoyed sharing and talking with him about his love for planting tomatoes, watching birds in the yard, and playing with kittens; and I admired his love and devotion to Kathy, his kids, his parents and all of his friends. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences on Dick's passing - to Kathy, Kate, Jane, Bruce, and the entire Erskine extended family. He will be truly missed! As a close life-long friend of Laurel Erskine Thomas I was always welcomed into the Erskine family and again when I married Joseph Thomas. Thank you all for the love you all give and share. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Dick's family.  I worked indirectly with Dick at SNHU and he was always so easy going and always had the University's best interest at heart. He will certainly be missed.

Heaven has certainly received a true and gentle Angel.  RIP Dick :(

Dick was one of the kindest human beings to walk the earth. At SNHU/NHC he was all about the students. You could rely on the fact that any decision he made was based on integrity and the student's best interest.

He was a wonderful colleague and friend. I miss him.

My heartfelt sympathy to his wife and family.

My deepest sympathy to all of you on the loss of a wonderful man who not only was my cousin but a friend growing up.  He truly will be missed to all who loved and crossed his path in their lifetime.  Memories will keep us going and knowing he's in God hands makes us know he is healthy again and with the Erskine's who have gone before him.  God be with the family through this and give you strength to carry on.  I loved him too.
