Chuck, I was so sorry to hear of Carol's passing. She was a dear person, and I was so lucky to get to know her over the last couple of years. My deepest sympathies to you and Rachel. I hear there's a Democratic Party in heaven.

I, along with the other classmates from 1963 will miss Carol (and you Chuck) who did so much to keep us together at our monthly coffees. We all really enjoyed them and all the fond memories of growing up together, the silly slumber parties, class plays, sports activities, etc. I hope you will keep in touch with us Chuck Fondly Jan Wood, classmate.

Maureen and I (Pete) are so saddened by Carols passing. Carol was an inspiration to us both in so many ways, especially during tough times in our lives. I was always comforted to know Carol was out there with her fighting spirit living life no matter what was before her, which gave me hope to do the same. Even though I may not have seen her often enough, the time last January when I connected with her and Chuck for dinner was special to me. I am undergoing a serious chronic medical crisis of my own right now that has me bed riddened and in 10/10 pain since August 11th and cannot attend the memorial service. May Carol's spirit soar higher than all the clouds and into the universe. I miss her alot right now, and hope that Chuck and Rachel stay in touch to carry on her memory forevermore.

We were shocked to hear of Carol's passing. She was such a strong and positive person!
It was special that our children got to visit with her during Holiday gatherings in MA. She always shared interesting stories about her adventures during the year.
We will miss her dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Chuck and Rachel.

Carol was the face of courage & bravery, struggling with health issues but never acting like it wasn't more than what everyone else faced. She was the kind of friend you can rely on to talk things over with. Carol was so excited about becoming a grandmother. I'm so very saddened she will miss this opportunity. But I know she'll be smiling down on her family when baby arrives. Just an exceptional woman. I will miss her inspiring posts.

To a dear sister in law and friend. I truly am better for knowing you! You are a true role model for all of those who face roadblocks in life. You never let polio stop you from living your life to the fullest! I will miss exchanging recipes with you! Love you always, Debbie Gass (Griggs)

Carol was my Godmother and Aunt. I'm in shock she was such a fighter always positive. One of the most thoughtful and inspiring persons I have known. Her fight for life and positive outlook is something I will hold close to my heart. I'm sad I will not be able to be there for the service. I'm thinking of Chuck and Rachel through this tough time. We love you and will visit soon! Ashley & Kyle

I was able to be with Carol in person only a few times after high school graduation; each time was more uplifting and inspiring than the last. She was a beautiful spirit -- kind, nurturing, fun-loving, always full of good humor and inclusiveness in her conversations and e-mails. She is missed, and her memories are cherished. Chuck and Rachel, you have my deepest condolences, and I know she will live on in your hearts and those of her grandchildren-to-be.

Chuck & Rachel...this is such a loss! I met Carol when she lived in Ankeny IA & became involved with the Iowa Polio Survivors. She took on a leadership role early & was so helpful in creating new excitement in our group with her creativity & ideas. She was a model for those who are/were struggling. I'd never met anyone like her before & am so thankful our paths crossed. I will greatly miss her delightful giggles & smiles. My deepest sympathies to you both!
