Also survived by 3 step children that he loved as his own, Brian Holmes of Manchester, Kelly Holmes of Manchester and Meaghan Lacerte of Manchester; five grandchildren; mother, Rose Buonopane; several siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Joe was predeceased by his father, Joseph Desharnais; and his wife, Margaret Desharnais.

I did not know Joe well, but I had seen him over the past few years. I spoke with him most recently in January and we had a nice conversation. I can tell you that I will always remember his amazing fighting spirit. This was a man who had a lot to live for and who fought a courageous battle to the end with both dignity and positive spirit. Rest in peace, Joe. My condolences to his family for your loss.
