GARY

We remember our very dear friend Gary as a man with integrity and a strong sense of commitment. These qualities endeared Gary to all who had the privilege to know him.

Gary and Sue entered our lives after they arrived in South Africa in mid 1975. Our friendship was nurtured through Kevin initially working for Gary but through his and Sue's generous hospitality we got to know their family very well before they returned to the United States in the spring of 1978.

Before Gary left South Africa he made a commitment to Kevin that he would ensure that Kevin would be given the opportunity to go to the United States for a period of training within GE's International operations in New York City and Fairfield.

When we arrived with our 2 young children in Connecticut in May 1979 little did we realize that because of Gary's support our future would be forever changed.

Over the next forty years we shared so many good times as Gary and Kevin moved on in their careers. Location changes meant that that we would meet in different places Connecticut, Lake Winnipesaukee, Kiawah, Sugar Hill. We spent many wonderful days at those various locations always sharing good times and growing memories.

Of course, there was a story for every meeting!

We fondly remember the sunset cruises on the lake. We have an everlasting memory of Gary on the boat with a smile on his face as we wound our way through the beautiful coves and inlets.

Another unforgettable experience was when we docked our boat on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River and spent the night with a wonderful view of Manhattan. Sue, can you remember the hair-raising ride back to Westport in an unbelievable storm and Gary leaning out the boat attempting to fix the wipers. Despite your protestations to continue I decided to dock the boat in Mamaroneck and we took a cab back to Norwalk.

Some of our endearing memories include sharing stories about our children, grandchildren and in your cases, great grandchildren.

We remember Gary with love and affection as a wonderful, caring friend but he was so much more than that we thank him for giving us the opportunity to expand our horizons and subsequently live on 4 different continents.

Gary, we leave you with our hearts saddened but we feel very privileged and fortunate to have called you our friend for 44 years.
