I loved knowing her for so many years on the dance floor at Pinewoods camp. Joan was a lovely dancer Pat Shaw wrote for a very favorite dance of mine called Quite Carr-ied Way or Joan Transported,A new little cabin is called that now and is very near to C # Minor at Pinewoods. Joan Shimer was a lovely woman and among many other accomplishments a beautiful dancer of English country dancing.I cannot bring to mind whether she was also a Morris or English sword dancer as well, maybe both. Awhile back Pat Shaw choreographed a great dance to georgous music for Joan HE called it "" Quite Carried Away or "Joan Transported". We very fortunate dancers are still transported and carried away on the dance floor by that dance. At Pinewoods Camp there is a .little campers cabin by the name of Quite Carried Away. It is very close to a dance pavilion too.I will miss Joan so much and will remember her always. From, Ann Mason Barrington RI

We remember Joan's luminous presence at CDSS and of course at Camp. I also remember her taking part in the CDSS Bicentennial Dance group which was conceived by Jim Morrison. Joan was a gentle leader at CDSS, she could resolve the trickiest of issues with quiet words and a gentle reordering of activity. Victor and I send our deep condolences to Joan's family, we are so sorry for your loss. We will all miss Joan's being with us in this world.
