Tribute & Message From The Family

Lucien R. Lafond, 72, of Manchester, New Hampshire, passed away following a lengthy illness, on August 30, 2019 surrounded by family.

He was born to parents Arthur Lafond and Marie Jeanne Fortier Lafond, on March 13, 1947, in Manchester, New Hampshire. Lucien graduated from Ste. Marie Catholic School and married the love of his life, Constance I. Gourde Lafond, in 1966, who survives him. Lucien is also survived by son Mark H. Lafond and wife Christine, daughter Sharon J. Barnett and husband Paul, as well as two cherished grandchildren Courtney T. Ferguson and fiancé Christopher S. Winslow, and Alexandra M. Ferguson. His adored pets Gus and Salem will also miss him. Lucien is predeceased by his parents Arthur Lafond and Marie Jeanne Fortier Lafond, sisters Yvonne Ingle and Theresa Daigle.

Following a hard day's work drywalling and roofing, strengthening his pitching arm, Lucien could be found watching the Red Sox or Patriots. Once he was done coaching them to championships, he then coached the little league team. Lucien spent his free time fishing, hunting, bowling or camping with family and friends. Lucien will be greatly missed by his loving family.

Calling Hours will be held Monday, September 9th, 3:00-7:00pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street in Manchester. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 10th at 10:00am at St. Anne-St. Augustin Church, 383 Beech Street, followed by family prayer at Mount Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to New Hampshire Fish and Game. To view an online memorial, leave a message of condolence, or more information please go to

Sharon: It is so heartbreaking to lose a parent; no matter how long a life or how well that life was lived. Sending you strength and love.

Uncle Lou, may you be free from your physical burdens and at peace. We're fairly certain that Memere Gourde was one of many at the gates to Heaven with laughter and a hug to greet you. If you're lucky, there is a Bean Pot right around the corner where you can get your favorite treats. Rest in Peace
