Dear Hugo and family,
We are very sorry for your tragic untimely loss of Karen.
She was such a remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
I will always remember her beautiful smile. She was an inspiration to me in so many ways. She shared her strong Catholic Faith with so many young people while teaching religious education classes at St. Marie's. Our son James was very fortunate to be one of her students.
She prayed for us when had a tragic loss in our family.
I will be praying for all of you during this most difficult time of your lives.
When she spoke to me about her family I could hear the love she had for each of you in her voice. The wonderful memories you have of her and your faith will get you through each day.

Karen.... Where can I begin? You have taught me so much. You taught me how to be a better religious Ed teacher. You taught me how to be a better woman of faith. You taught me my worth. You caught my tears many times, and listened as I shared my own heartaches. You made meals for me and my mom during her cancer treatments. And now...you're gone. We will not share another laugh, another breakfast or lunch, another Pentecost vigil, or another hug. Rest in peace Karen. I love you.

I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to have known Karen. She was instrumental in the developing of my faith and for this I am thankful. She was a positive influence in the Saint Marie's youth group and help guide all of us to be the best version of ourselves. She was tough but always positive and spoke with love in her voice. I will miss her smile and her hugs. I believe her travels to heaven are a part of Gods master plan and can feel some satisfaction that she is now with our Lord. I am so happy for Kala as she now has family with her in heaven. The Poza family has always had a special place in my life from they day I met all of you. God bless each of you and know that your friend is praying for each of you through this sad and lonely time. I love each of you and pray for peace to surround each of you as you go through the process of saying goodbye.

Nearly every week since the summer of 2013, I had the privilege of a phone conversation with Karen. She even texted on the day of the accident. She leaves behind a legacy of caring, compassion, and straight talk. So many times I catch myself thinking I would like to ask Karen about some little or big thing. For the family, and so many others, please know you are frequently in my prayers.

I am without words. My friend and mentor and business partner has been taken away. Karen and Hugo understanding the role of Church Militant have always been proactive in the fight. My heart aches for Hugo and her children and grandchildren... I hope I can pray for Karen's intercession in Heaven. We need the help of those who have gone on to meet the Lird.
