Tribute & Message From The Family

James Allen Lemay, 66, of Boscawen passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

James was born in Manchester May 16, 1954 to Roger and Therese (Thibodeau) Lemay. He was a graduate of Manchester West High School Class of 1972. Upon graduation he joined the Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the military, James enjoyed a long and successful career as a Mold Technician with Summit Packaging Systems.

James attended services at Grace Capital Church in Pembroke for many years and was also a long-time member of the American Legion Post 31 in Penacook. He was a loving, caring, hardworking, selfless soul who was generous almost to a fault and never asked for or expected anything in return. He devoted his life to his family and his happiest moments were spent in their company.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Theresa Claire (Martel) Lemay; his children, Tracie Britton and husband Richard of Manchester, Danielle Knight of Manchester, Christopher Lemay and wife Kimberly of Goffstown, and Deborah Lemay and husband Chad Burpee of New Port Richey, FL; 13 grandchildren, Sarah Britton, Krysten Britton, Shannon Chaplin, Courtney Lemay, Luke Knight, Maryah Lemay Ross, Chandler Burpee Lemay, Jeremy Burpee, Shania Burpee, Adrien Burpee, Olympia Burpee, Andilyn Lemay, and Kaydence Lemay; 9 great-grandchildren, Zachary Britton, Zoey Britton, Zayleighana Britton, Kaylee Dupuis, Isabella Dupuis, Wesley Chaplin, Lily Chaplin, Jasiah Ross, and Carter Ross; siblings, Carol Waszeciak and husband John, Janice Yergeau and husband Donald, and Gary Lemay and wife Kelly; his cherished mother-in-law, Claire P. Locke; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and dear friends.

Graveside service with Military Honors will take place at 11:30am Tuesday, July 14th at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen. Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium is assisting the family with arrangements.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Jim and I were stationed together at Myrtle Beach AFB, SC around 1973. I had already served in Vietnam (1969-1970) in the Forward Air Controllers. We ended up being transferred to Korat, Thailand on TDY (Temporary Duty) for seven months loading weapons on A-7D Corsair II for missions into Cambodia. In the evening, Jim and I spent many evenings playing Cribbage. Returning home we continued our friendship and visited each other with our respective wives (mine is now an ex and is long deceased). I had thought about Jim many times over the years and recall driving to Manchester for a visit. At that time he had a broken leg from a motor vehicle accident. In Myrtle Beach I made a portrait of his youngest daughter and it remains framed on my wall to this day. I was taken aback to learn of his passing as I had recently searched the web just to see if I could find anything about him. Jim is six years younger than I, and I never knew that. I am 73 and quite active. I had to search my box of photos for Jim's photo because he looks so young in the provided photo. I wish I had made a concerted effort to visit Jim. I guess the years pass too quickly but I will never forget him and always keep him in my thoughts.

Terri and family,
My heart goes out to all of you at this time. I know how much he was loved as Claire always told me what a big help he was to her. I'll never forget, years ago, Terri being on the stairway talking on the phone for hours as she just met this kind man and they were falling in love. The stairway was the only place the phone could reach to at the time. May Jim's memories be with you always so he'll be in your heart forever! RIP James and thank-You for your service! Here's a virtual hug to all the family. I called your mom and got her to laugh just a little. She misses him so very much. May God bless you all..Love, Gail
