Tribute & Message From The Family

FRANCONIA, NH -- Irene F. Dickinson recently of Franconia, NH passed away early on the morning of July 19, 2020 at the Lafayette Center at the age of 94.

Irene was born on April 22, 1926 on Breezy Hill in Lisbon, NH to the late Elwood and Florence (Bennett) Wright. She was one of 7 children (Roger, Iola, Barbara, Susan, Pauline & Elwood). She lived most of her life in Lisbon.

In October 1958 she married Harry R. Dickinson who predeceased her in 1985. Together with Harry, Irene created and ran Mink Brook Campground until the early 80's when they sold it. In addition to running the campground, she worked throughout the years for Lisbon Savings Bank saying that whenever she needed a job, they always seemed to have a position for her. She was active in several craft groups and continued to enjoy doing creative projects until her death. She was also an avid reader.

She leaves her daughters Norabel Twombley Clark & husband John of Bethlehem, Beth Twombley & husband Ernest Lyndes of Lisbon, her sons James Dickinson & wife Deborah of Bethlehem and Stephen Dickinson & wife Carolyn of Littleton. She leaves 7 grandchildren who all adored her great sense of humor, her adventurous spirit (the "camping Grammie") and the love she showered on them. She leaves 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Elwood & Barbara Wright of Bethlehem. A special niece that was more like a daughter, Shirley Peterson. As well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Staff at Lafayette Center for the care they provided to Irene especially during these last 2 months.

Beth and family, my heart is heavey upon hearing the passing of your Mom Irene. We were more than neighbors, we were friends-Good Friends! Irene was Special to me, I cared for her deeply. We shared stories, jokes and someone we both loved, her kitty Sophie. I get some comfort in knowing Irene and Sophie will be reunited in Heaven. Someday I will join them. Untill then, I will carry them in my Heart- together. Rhonda

Nora, Beth, James and Stephan: So sorry for your loss. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. She is with mom knitting away in Heaven. I have many fond memories of Aunt Irene from the campground and swimming in the brook to visiting her in Franconia with family.
