To Leo's family, we offer you are sincere condolences. We first met Leo and Alyeska in Feb of 2019 when they visited our puzzle shop. That was the start of our friendship and his many visits after to have jigsaw puzzles made from his pictures. We would give him a hard time because he usually chose pictures that only had 2 or 3 colors making the puzzle super difficult in the 1000 piece size . He'd smile and said they'd get it done; He'd bring back the completed puzzles to be shrink wrapped so he could hang them on his wall and enjoy them again. We enjoyed his stories about his adventures and glad that the puzzles gave him pleasure. He'll be missed.

Leo was a friend and neighbor, he will be greatly missed. I call him "Leo the Lion" for his fierce determination to accomplish whatever he set out to do, he was a true fighter with a positive impact on so many people.
I will miss trout fishing on the pond, helping with projects and having our dogs get together for playtime.
Our sincere condolences to Alice, Sue, Paul and all the kids and family.

You touched a lot of people in your God-given time on this Earth, and I am one of them. When you came to Western Helicopters in 2011 for a transition to the MD500, I was fortunate to be the one asked to fly with you. I immediately sensed your superb airmanship along with your deep understanding of the mechanical side of helicopters. Little did I know about your extensive background and experience in rotary wing flying, maintenance and repair. You were a class act in the way you adapted to the 500. There was no need for me to say or demonstrate anything twice. You caught on instantly. Smooth and accurate in every way. Please know that you were loved and respected by all who got to know you, Leo, and you had a totally positive influence on those lucky enough to benefit from your love of helicopters and what you could do with them. See you soon. Save a helipad for me. Pete Gillies, Chief Pilot, Ret., Western Helicopters, Inc.

Anyone that met Leo just had too like Him. His smile was infectious. I have not seen Leo in years but He was the kind of friend that you could go a year without talking but just pick right up like you had seen each other yesterday. Adios old friend

Leo, Alice, Sue, Paul,

Leo will forever be in my heart, Leo could not have been a better friend, brother, a Good Man. Leo's love for all things Avation was infectious, if you were near him, you soon to would love Avation. A memory that I will never forget, Leo and I would sit in the PX parking lot at Ft Wainwright, middle of winter, and try to fly OUR RC helicopters. i remember -40 deg and we would both support each other teaching, learning to fly in the extreme cold. Later, in the summer, Leo and I decided we would fly an RC helicopter to Anchorage from out side of Fairbanks. We practiced, set up, studied, and learned what it would take to perform the journey. We loaded in the back end of Gary Szabo's truck and set off for our adventure. Leo and I would switch off flying hour after hour. We finally ran out of light making it to the outskirts of Wasilla, not too bad. Leo and I took our first Moose together, another event I will never forget. With difficulty, from tears running down my face, I could go on with story after story. I love Leo like a Brother. Alice, always, always so kind, warm and made me feel like Family. I am heart broken, losing a member of my family. Leo, I love you like a brother, I hope to see you again someday. Rob Austin.

I can't express how sad I am about this. The years we spent together day and night working together. Your smile was always contagious and we always had fun no matter what the circumstance was. You weren't just a patient you were a friend. It was always hard to say goodbye but now I'm going to say you are at peace. I will hold so many memories in my heart. You taught me a lot and for that I'm thankful. RIP Leo and I'm so thankful you have found your angel. ❤- Kerrie

Leo will be profoundly missed by all! Reading this obituary brings overwhelming joy of all Leo had accomplished during his life. I always enjoyed the wealth of knowledge Leo had to contribute to our conversation. His ability to find out any information you may question. When Leo was smiling with his friends and family he would light up the room! This picture says a thousands words.
