Bernard Francis Colburn, 81, died Friday, June 18, 2021 at DHMC in Hanover, NH after a brief illness.

He was born in Brattleboro on May 23, 1940, the son of Frank V. and Minnie L. (Brown) Colburn. Bernie was a graduate of Brattleboro High School and served in the United States Army. Upon his return home, Bernie worked a variety of occupations including bookbinding at the Book Press of Brattleboro (also operated by The Stephen Greene Press and later by a Boston Publishing Company) as well as for the State of Vermont at the Brattleboro District Court.

He enjoyed athletics in high school and zooming the countryside on his motorcycle as a young man. He remained a sports enthusiast throughout his lifetime. Bernie also enjoyed collecting coins and stamps as well as history, literature, classical movies and having philosophical and political discussions.
