Loving Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Teacher, and Friend

Elizabeth (Ritchie) Roach, 58, of Canterbury passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Concord Hospital with her devoted husband by her side.

Born in Altus, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Andy T. and Phyllis (Robertson) Ritchie of Searcy, AR. Raised and educated around the United States, Canada, and Belgium, Elizabeth was a graduate of Harding University, Searcy, Arkansas, where she met and married the love of her life, Keith Roach.

Elizabeth was patient, loving and kind. If she loved you, you knew it. She taught Sunday School classes at churches she attended, bringing Bible stories to life by creating puppets and the expressive personalities behind them to tell the stories. She taught French at Horizon's Edge School and acted as a teacher's aide at the Shaker Regional School District for 18 years working with special needs students as well as working in the school's library. She and her husband were honored to receive the school district's 2007 Champion for Children Award recognizing their volunteer efforts in the district over the previous 21 years. Elizabeth retired in 2011. She remained involved in the district and at Belmont High School having been a member of the Athletic Booster Club for 15 years and serving as its president for the past 4 years.

A dedicated wife and mother, Elizabeth was the pillar of strength for her family. Her family and extend family were paramount in her life and she took great pride in all the accomplishments of everyone in her family, especially those of her three sons. Elizabeth cherished memories made singing with family so often and in so many places. She treasured the memories made on countless family trips, most notably, on the Ritchie family vacation to Hawaii in 2014. Singing was always an important part of Elizabeth and her family's life. While in college she sang soprano in Harding University's A Capella chorus and played violin in the orchestra. She always enjoyed traveling and in her younger years she enjoyed sports, especially volleyball and swimming, where she held a Water Safety Instructor's certification. She has always enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and reading. She spent summers with her boys at summer camps working as the kitchen manager at camps in Maine and Virginia, affectionately known as the Zoo Mom to some campers. Excited to be a grandmother, she had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first grandson, due in June, bringing her joy and jubilation. Elizabeth will be best remembered for her loving heart and giving spirit.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth is survived by her husband and companion, Keith Roach, with whom she shared 36 fun filled years of marriage; her three sons, Nathan A. and wife Larissa (Arnault) of Nashville, TN, Jonathan K. and wife Lauren (Salzman) of Boscawen, and Daniel B. and wife Julie (Williams) of Batesville, AR; her two brothers, Thomas D. Ritchie and wife Debbie (Houff) and Robert A. Ritchie and wife Lisa (James); her sister, Alice Ramsey and husband Mathew; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
