Harry C. Rees, Jr., 87, of Manchester, NH, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, February 6, 2020. A veteran of the Korean War, he was assigned to the 57th Field Artillery Battalion and was the receiver of several service medals.

Harry was born on September 21, 1932, in Pisgah, MD to Harry C. and Elizabeth M. (Burgess) Rees, Sr. In 1952, he joined the U.S. Army where he completed basic training at Ft. Still, OK. He served in Korea from May 1953 - May 1954 where he received the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. After serving in the war, he was stationed at Ft. Meade in Maryland.

On October 19, 1958, he married Joan M. (Sullivan) Rees and raised two sons and four daughters. Harry was employed as a repair and installer and retired from New England Telephone Company after 20 years . He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan M. (Sullivan) Rees of Manchester, NH; two sons, Harry C. Rees, III and his wife Karen Anderson, and their two children Benjamin and Emily of Cleveland, OH; Paul S. Rees, Sr., and his wife, Joan, and their four children Paul, Jr. and his wife, Jordanna of Windham, ME, Kelsey, Brenda, and Thomas of Meredith, NH; four daughters, Deborah A. (Rees) Goelzhauser and her husband Rick, and their three children Phillip and his wife, Kaitlyn of Midland, TX, Stephanie, and Lisa of Cibolo, TX; Patricia E. (Rees) Farrell and her husband Michael, Sr., and their four children Kathleen, Michael, Jr., and his wife Courtney, and their two children, Hunter and Cooper, Christopher of Hudson, NH, and Sean and his husband Danny of Florida; Jacqueline M. (Rees) Dixon and her husband, Phillip of Derry, NH; MaryAnn Rees of Manchester, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 12, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 250 Coolidge Avenue, in Manchester. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Committal prayers and military honors will follow at 2:30 PM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, in Boscawen, NH.
