He was born in Manchester on July 7, 1949, the son of Paul and Francoise (Gingras) Potvin. He was a 1967 graduate of Manchester High School West and was a member of the honor society and an all-star athlete. He was an Eagle Scout. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Intervale Country Club where he was once club champion. He also played on the senior golf tour. In his retirement, he enjoyed landscaping, building rock gardens, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was particularly proud of watching his granddaughter Ella on stage, and teaching his grandson Jack how to play basketball. He and his wife enjoyed exploring the back-roads of NH, always on the lookout for hidden treasures.
