Loving Husband


Ronald J. Selander-Carrier, 65, of Manchester, died on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Elliot Hospital after a period of declining health. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Earl and Ruth (Reilly) Selander on December 2, 1951. He enjoyed nearly 25 years of marriage with his loving husband, Norman Selander-Carrier.

Raised and educated in Connecticut, Ron served in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1974 before moving to New Hampshire in 1975. As an occupational therapy assistant, he worked from 1975-1989 at the Laconia State School, and afterwards at School Administrative Unit #46 helping emotionally and physically challenged children and young adults until his retirement in 2012. "Mr. Ron" touched the lives of many people during his time at SAU46.

Ron loved shopping, especially for the newest technological toys, and also enjoyed crocheting. He will be best remembered for his lively sense of humor, and for being a passionate person who put his heart into everything he did.

Ron leaves behind his husband, Norman Selander-Carrier of Manchester; his brother, Rogers Selander and wife Dottie of Kingsland, GA; his sister, Leslie King and husband Robert of Kingsland, GA; his brothers-in-law, Paul Carrier and wife Nancy of Tifton, GA and Philip Carrier and wife Cathie of Linchburg, VA; his sister-in-law, Diane Carrier of Manchester; as well as many nieces, nephews, great -nieces and great -nephews, and extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenton Selander, of Kingsland, GA. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Services: Ron's visitation will be held at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH on Saturday, May 20th from 11am-1pm with a service immediately following at 1pm. He will be laid to rest at the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH on Monday, May 22nd at 11:30am. Family and friends are invited to attend.
