Obituary

Stephen Michael Damien Laro, 69, of Allenstown passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 following a period of declining health.

Stephen was born in Lynn, MA on November 15, 1948. He was a graduate of Beverly high School, Class of '66, and entered the United States Air Force upon graduation. During his time in the military Stephen served several tours of duty in Vietnam and Korea as a telecommunications specialist, retiring after 23 years of proud and honorable service. While serving during peace time, Stephen was able to earn a bachelor's degree in Business Studies from Franklin Pierce College which served him well in civilian life working for the Census Bureau and the State Of NH retirement system.

Stephen loved technology, a passion he passed down to his son and grandsons. He enjoyed tinkering with all manner of electronics, watching movies, and going on shopping trips, which often used as an excuse to spoil his children and grandchildren. Stephen was an incredibly generous man but felt strongly that his charitable acts were always to remain anonymous. Prior to his passing he worked tirelessly to find a way to continue his service to others, even in death. As a result, Stephen's final gifts will change the lives of many and the benefits will be felt for years to come.

Stephen is survived by his children Jennifer Laro of East Falmouth, MA, Yvette Lareaux of Panama City, FL, Michael Laro and wife Debra of Scarborough, ME, and Kim Laro of Allenstown, NH; grandchildren Samuel, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Natasha Laro, Nelson Baptiste, Zoe Jackson, and Thomas and Trejhon Maddox; sisters Eileen Jackson, Lori Gerrish, Charles "Chucky" Gerrish, and Karen Laro and several extended family members. He was predeceased by his mother, Marie (O'Meara) Gerrish, his brother, Robert Laro, and his sister, Linda Laro.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on January 21st at 3PM to be held at The Salvation Army in Concord New Hampshire, 58 Clinton Street. Officiated by Major Robert Kountz.

In honor of Stephen's charitable spirit, the family asks those who wish to send flowers to instead consider making a donation to Operation Smile by visiting www.operationsmile.org for ways to donate, or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation online at www.jdrf.com, two charities very near and dear to Stephen's heart.
