Leonard C. Newell, Sr., 83, of Manchester, NH, passed away December 3, 2016 in Manchester.

Lenny was born April 21, 1933 in Manchester, NH, a son of Guy & Mabel (Currier) Newell and had been a lifelong resident of this community.

Prior to retirement, Lenny was a supervisor with Public Service Company of NH, having been with the company for 35 years.

Lenny was a longtime active member of the Masonic Fraternity and Bektash Shriners and volunteered throughout the years on behalf of the less fortunate.

Lenny very much enjoyed time spent with family and friends on Baboosic Lake.

Family includes his wife of 54 years, Shirley (Philbrick) Newell; four children, the late Cynthia Sexton, Katherine Romer and her husband, Ronald, Leonard Newell, Jr. and his wife, Jo and Christopher Newell and his wife, Kimberly; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three siblings, Guy Newell, Shirley Myrdek and the late Carlton Newell; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Cate & Johnson Funeral Home, 573 Pine Street, corner of Harrison Street in Manchester.

Prayer Service will be offered on Saturday during the calling hours period at 12:00 p.m. in Cate & Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Shriners Hospitals For Children, c/o Bektash Shriners, 189 Pembroke Road-Box 4086, Concord, NH 03302.

Cate & Johnson Funeral Service of Manchester is directing arrangements.
