Sylvia D. Edmunds, 98, of Manchester, NH, passed away December 15, 2016 in Manchester.

Sylvia was born June 11, 1918 in England, a daughter of Herbert & Florence May (Cooke) Galley and had been a Bedford, NH, resident for many years

Prior to retirement, Sylvia was a school teacher in England, Hooksett and Bedford, NH, having taught for 41 years.

Sylvia was a longtime active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Elliot Hospital Associates, NH Education Association and the National Education Association.

Sylvia enjoyed time spent as the director of children’s choral groups throughout the area having a profound positive influence on those whom she mentored.

Although very active socially in the community, Sylvia’s family was at the center of her life.

Sylvia was pre-deceased by her husband, Jack Edmunds.

Family includes one son, Stephen Edmunds and his wife, Julie; one daughter, Doreen Long and her husband, Jeffrey; four grandchildren, Brett Long, Kristi Suter and her husband, Rick, Ashley Moulton and her husband, Brian, and Mallory Shaffer and her husband, Craig; as well as two great-grandchildren, Adrea Shaffer and Carson Moulton.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cate & Johnson Funeral Home, 573 Pine Street, corner of Harrison Street in Manchester.

Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Manchester. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchest
